Authors I Love

Happy Friday :)

We have some cool stuff planned with Lisa this weekend. It's always fun to get out of the city and check out some the nearby attractions. The weather has been great this week (almost a little too hot) so I'm pretty sure our weekend will include some beach time.

In keeping with my Friday reading series, here are some of my favourite authors. There are so many authors I love, but these are the ones where I've read one of their books, fallen in love, and immediately read everything else they wrote. These are the people whose books I have on my 'To Read' list months before they come out, I probably follow them on Twitter, and I may have went to a few book signings.

Canadian Authors:

  1. Linwood Barclay - He was recommended to me by my bestie! And I actually got to  go to a book signing of his in London England. Some of his books are set near Peterbrough, where I have family so I really like that. Start with: No Time For Goodbye
  2. Barbara Fradkin - I love the Inspector Green series set in Ottawa. It's fun to recognise streets and landmarks when you are reading. Start with: Do or Die
  3. Howard Shrier - Tj was shopping for me for my birthday one year and the salesperson at Chapters recommended this author. Start with: Buffalo Jump

YA:

  1. Jenny Han - One of her books was on my top 10 of 2017 list. I love diversity in books. This series is going to be a movie soon starring Janel Parrish from Pretty Little Liars and John Corbett (Aiden from Sex and the City). Start with: To All the Boys I've Loved Before
  2. Ally Carter - Her books are for a younger audience, but they are about girl spies and con artists and are fun stories. One of her books is going to be made into a movie by Elizabeth Banks. Start with: I'd Tell You I Love You but Then I'd Have to Kill You
  3. Elizabeth Wein - Amazing historical fiction books usually involving airplanes. I'd recommend her for all ages (adults too). I'm pretty sure I cried at this book. Start with: Code Name Verity
  4. J.K. Rowling - I don't need to say anything else. Just read Harry Potter.

Others:

  1. Harlan Coben - I just really like his books. Tj and Jacob got really into his audiobooks a few summers ago when we drove to PEI. He also has a really good TV series on Netflix called 'The Five' and a few French miniseries. The movie version of Tell No One, Ne Le Dis A Personne won 4 César Awards in France. Start with: Tell No One or Deal Breaker
  2. Ken Follett - I love to hate some of his characters! Great historical fiction, and I have to add that I was a fan even before he was an Oprah's Book Club choice haha. I even got to meet him when I was in Toronto. Start with: Pillars of the Earth or Night Over Water
  3. Greg Iles - The first book of his that I read was actually the second in the Penn Cage series. I don't know if I've ever read the first, but the books do get darker later in the series. One of them had dog fighting scenes and I think that's the only time I had to skip ahead in a book because I refused to read about that. Start with: Turning Angel
  4. Liane Moriarty - An Australian writer! One of her books was made into the TV series, 'Big Little Lies' woth big names like Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. Meryl Streep just signed on for the second season. But truthfully, I like the book better. Start with: The Husband's Secret
  5. Jojo Moyes - Her book Me Before You was a big movie with Emilia Clark from Game of Thrones. I love that series, but I really like her other books as well. I got to meet her in London too. Start with: Me Before You or One Plus One.

Happy Reading and have a great weekend :)
