Exploring Melbourne: South Yarra and Prahran

I can't believe it's March 1st! This year is just flying by wow. And guess what? Survivor starts tonight! (Thursday in Australia, Wednesday in Canada). Now you are probably thinking,  "That show is still on?", but I promise you it's better than ever! It's one of the only shows that Tj and I both like to watch. Apparently Australia has their own version too, which is supposed to be really good, so I can't wait to watch that one.

Yesterday I had a nice surprise. The post man rang me to come down and sign for a package. My lovely sister-in-law Lisa surprised us again! Last week she surprised us by ordering us our very own copy of the famous Dutch Blitz game. And this time she surprised us with a really pretty beach blanket! We had trouble finding something that we could all sit on, and I bought us some cheap beach towels, but this blanket is so much better (and prettier!). Can't wait for our next beach trip to use it. Thanks Lisa :)

In London, finding a neighbourhood we loved was really important. And I think it's one of the reason's we loved London so much (I know it's on my list of things I miss). When looking for a place to live, we want it to have energy. Since we know we aren't going to be in Melbourne forever, we want to be right in the action. I like when there are lots of people around and I will always feel safe. The local amenities are pretty important to us, and it has to have good public transportation and be close to a grocery store.

When Tj and I first moved to Australia just over three months ago, we had temporary accommodation in South Yarra. We immediately loved the neighbourhood, but since we were completely new to Melbourne, we decided to do as much exploring as we could before deciding where to live. We  saw lots of different units in lots of different neighbourhoods, but we kept coming back to South Yarra and Prahran.

Eventually we found our perfect place here! We are so happy in our new home and neighbourhood.

We love all the restaurants and the shopping. There are so many great shops and boutiques along Chapel Street and Toorak Road. We are near cinemas and several grocery stores, and incredible bakeries. There is a market on the weekend, and lots of parks. We are a short walk to the Botanical Gardens and not too far from an IKEA and a store called Big W, which is kind of like a Walmart. There is a bar one street over and they have a covered patio that is right across from our balcony. We can't see it, but we found out the hard way that we can hear it lol. But it does seem like it's always happening! And there is another pub around the corner that plays American sports on TV (they opened at 7:00am for the Super Bowl) and another bar that always has live music. I feel like there will always be something to do around here. I tried to take pictures, but they don't really do it justice. Family and friends will just have to visit us and check it our for themselves!

Have a great day, and don't forget to watch Survivor!
