Hanging Out at Home
Happy Monday!
Tj and I had a nice weekend. Our friend was in town with family his family, so we met him for some drinks on Friday night, and one of Tj's old coworkers from London also joined us. It is so weird and cool to see familiar faces and know we are so far from where we normally see them! I love it. He was our first scheduled guest since we found out we were moving so he was a little 'disappointed' to learn we've already had quite a few people visit us in Melbourne! I can't wait to have more visitors :)
We love the area we live in, and it's nice to just hang out around home sometimes. We haven't been here that long, so there are still a lot of new things to try. Here are some things we did while hanging out in our neighbourhood this weekend:
- Drinks on Friday night - We went to Imperial on Friday night with our friends. Everytime we walk by this place it is busy. They have a great little patio and the restaurant opens onto the street. I usually get a Frozé, which is a rosé slushy drink. So refreshing on hot days! My favourite part is the live music. The guy on Friday night was really good. His microphone stand even had a beer holder.
- Trying new cafes - The coffee in Melbourne is Legen- wait-for-it -dary -Legendary! I don't drink coffee, but I do love a Chai Latte. Tj's usual order is a soy latte and I get a soy chai and we laugh at how hipster we sound. This weekend we tried Middletown and Mr. Mister. We already have a few neighbourhood favourites, but I love that there are always so many new places to try!
- Restaurants - Tj keeps lists of restaurants to try in different areas. We have been trying to eat out a bit less, but we ended up trying a few new places in our neighbourhood this weekend. While we had our hot drinks we shared a breakfast at Middletown on Saturday. On Sunday we went to Hanoi Hannah for lunch. Both places were delicious!
- Shopping - There is really good shopping on Chapel Street which is really close. Tj needed a nap on Saturday after his night out, so I went to browse around some of the shops. The seasons are changing so there are lots of sales. I managed to get a few really good deals but I can't say too much because I bought some gifts (hint *something for my gf who got engaged last New Years!*)
- Gym - On Sunday Tj woke up super early (for him) because his family Facetimed him from Hawaii where they are on vacation. So we decided to get ready and go to the gym. Usually Tj wants to grab a coffee before the gym, but it adds on so much time so I said no. We each did a good workout and afterwards we were going to get groceries but instead we decided to go for lunch first. Except Hanoi Hannah wasn't open yet, so we went for coffee at Mr. Mister. We just kept laughing at how hipster our day felt - gym and then specialty coffee followed by Vietnamese food.
The weather here has been nutty lately, so it was nice to take advantage of some nice days and walk around outside a lot. We watched a lot of movies this weekend and I got in some good reading time. We didn't get half of the stuff on our to-do list done, but it was nice to hang out together after a busy week. Next time I just have to remember to take more pictures!
Now let's see what this week will bring! Hope you all have a good one.
P.S. Who caught my legendary How I Met Your Mother reference above? :) I bet Jacob did!
