Crazy Melbourne Weather
Happy Wednesday!
This week is going by so fast. It's definitely fall here. It's getting dark earlier and it's rainy and we had to turn on our heat again tonight! Lol. I am so excited to see what winter will be like here. It seems like Melbourne has the worst winters of the big Australian cities, but what does that mean?! Will I see snow? Will it just be Ultimate Misery of rain and wind?
Ultimate Misery is a bit of an inside joke. When my friend and her husband were visiting, it was freezing cold and windy and rainy. We tried to call an Uber from the train station which is only an eight minute walk but it was so gross out. Uber had surge prices so it was going to be like 30$ and a bit of a wait so we decided to just go for it. The joke was that we would get soaking wet and be so cold and reach Ultimate Misery on the walk home and then it would feel that much better when we got back to my place and changed into warm clothes and had hot chocolate LOL. It worked. That walk was definitely Ultimate Misery and probably the second worst weather I've experienced in Melbourne so far (the worst weather I've seen was on the weekend back when Tj was traveling. I didn't even have to leave the apartment that day so I don't know if it counts. I did have to bring our balcony furniture inside because I was scared the mirror would blow over).
They also say that Melbourne can have four seasons in one day and the few times I've had guests here this has definitely been true.
When my aunt and cousin were here we went for breakfast and it was pouring rain. We went to the beach next just so they could see and it was drizzling. We walked along the beach for and it got sunny and really hot and we all got sunburnt.
The same thing happened when my friend and her husband were here the day we went to the Australian Grand Prix. It started out very overcast and a little rainy and we were worried about how bad it would get. Then it got so sunny we were melting while we watched the races. The only relief was when a tiny cloud covered the sun for like two minutes. Then that night was Ultimate Misery haha.
So up and down! I know nobody back in Canada feels bad for me wondering what Australian winter will be like when they just had months of full on Canadian winter and crap weather. I shouldn't complain - I don't even think it will snow or go below zero here!
I hope this post about weather wasn't too boring, but I guess I have to complain about something - Melbourne can't be too perfect! hahaha
Have a great week :)
