Weekend Update

Happy Monday!

It's a holiday weekend or Victoria Day back in Canada but there is no holiday here in Australia.

Tj and I had a pretty busy weekend. We didn't make it to the poutine restaurant but we did go for brunch on Saturday. It was delicious as usual. The problem we have in Melbourne is that there are always so many new places to try and they are all really good LOL. What a great 'problem' to have.

On Saturday I woke up early and went to the gym and picked up a few groceries. I even got Tj a coffee and I thought I got his order right this time but apparently it's not just a soy latte, it's a soy latte with one sugar. I think Tj is lucky he gets a gourmet coffee delivered when he wakes up and he better stop complaining LOL.

After brunch we did something very brave for a Saturday afternoon - we went to Ikea. Actually, first we went to Kmart and got some new pots. You know you're an adult when new pots make you happy. Then we went to Ikea. We couldn't agree on anything haha. It was almost as frustrating as putting together Ikea furniture. We walked away with a new spatula and more cutlery and counted it as a successful trip even though we didn't get anything that was actually on our list.

Our next stop was Victoria Street in the Richmond neighborhood where there are lots of Vietnamese restaurants and grocery shops. It is sometimes referred to as Melbourne's Little Saigon. Tj needed a haircut and some groceries. He picked up his favourite bánh mìsandwich and I finally found my favourite Asian dessert - mochi! We got three - 2 red bean and one custard flavour. I meant to take a picture but we ate them right away while Tj was waiting for his haircut. Tj told me to wait outside one store and he was going to run back and get something at another store. He came back 10 minutes later with a huge smile and a 10kg bag of rice LOL. It's so big it doesn't even fit in our cupboard.

I was so tired by the time we got home. I tried to have a nap but I ended up reading instead.

Then it was time for the Royal Wedding! It was so fun messaging my girlfriends in Canada while we watched. They all woke up early to watch and I was getting ready to sleep here, but it was like we were all together :) Tj loved the cellist.

Sunday was grey and a little rainy. We woke up and watched playoff hockey. It was so weird watching hockey first thing in the morning. I did some shopping and bought a new lipstick and a pair of boots (ok, I got a pair of ballet flats too). I had a great video chat with two of my girlfriends and killed my phone battery before going to the gym. We did groceries and watched Jersey Shore. What a great afternoon.

Now it's back to work today but I have a treat this week! Tomorrow's blog post will be written by TJ himself!

Have a great week :)
