Friday Favourite!

Happy Friday!

I hope you are having a good week so far. Do you love my picture this week? These are the pancakes I had a few weeks ago. They were soooo good.

This week has flown by. We don't have anything planned for the weekend yet, but I'd love to see the new Deadpool 2 movie. The weather is supposed to be nice so we are thinking of exploring a new neighbourhood which would be fun too.

Tj and I are watching the Survivor finale as I work on this post! This season was pretty good but I feel like there are too many twists. I will do a recap next week after I've watched it all! Hopefully I win the family Survivor pool.

This week for my Friday Favourite book post, I'm sticking with the PEI theme and talking about one of my all-time favourites, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Anne is an orphan who is mistakenly sent to live with a middle-aged brother and sister. She falls in love with Prince Edward Island and charms the Cuthberts into letting her stay, getting into lots of messy situations along the way.

What can I say, I love this book. When I was a kid I loved the musical and had a few copies of the books. I had an Anne doll and my dad even got me a framed poster that said 'Gee I'm glad I'm no one else but me'.

A few years ago I re-read the series and fell in love all over again. It's just so classic. And I love the series because you get to see the continuation of Anne's story. Did you know Anne was engaged to someone else?! Seems unbelievable because Anne and Gilbert are my all-time favourite book couple!

Anne is just such a special character. She should be so annoying but she is so lovable. She experiences life so fully. She has the most vivid imagination and no filter.

The story is so timeless, I never get sick of it. It is definitely worth reading again every few years.

There have been a few good TV series, most recently there is one on Netflix called 'Anne with an "E". It was a little darker than the book, but I think the show really showcases the beauty of the Island, and the actress does a good job capturing Anne's spirit.

I've found this super cute article called 100 Things I Learned About Life from Anne of Green Gables. Here are some good ones:

  1. Love fiercely.
  2. There's nothing wrong with talking to yourself.
  3. If you're going to do something, do it with full abandon.
  4. A good imagination makes life far more interesting.
  5. Let yourself feel and feel it intensely, the good and the bad.
  6. First impressions aren't everything.
  7. One good friend (bosom buddy) is all you really need.
  8. If you're going to apologise, do it thoroughly.
  9. Wait for a man who isn't intimidated by your brain.
  10. You don't need to be blood to be family.

These are some of my favourite quotes from the book:

Have a great weekend!
