What I'm Reading Now

Happy Friday! Almost the weekend woohoo.

This week has been super busy but I've been mixed up about which day of the week it is all week. On Tuesday I kept thinking it was Thursday or Friday! Very confusing…

So far in July, I've read two books. The first one, Police, is part of the Harry Hole series by Jo Nesbo. It is Scandinavian crime fiction and the books can be pretty dark. It's rare that I get bad dreams from a book, but the last few in the series have been super dark and creepy.

After that, I needed something lighter. I had a whole bunch of books become available at the library at the same time, so I chose a YA book called Save the Date by Morgan Matson. It was just what I needed! I've been kind of off of this genre lately. I'm not sure if it's because I've just been reading really good crime thrillers, or if it's because all of the YA books I've been reading have been duds, but this one was a pleasant surprise! Super cute, super quick read, and just what I needed after a long scary-ish book.

I knew my next pick needed to be good. I have so many books on my To-Read list, but I wasn't dying to read any of them.  So I chose the library book that is due back the soonest

I am reading The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine. So far so good! I got into it much more quickly than I thought I would and I want to see what this girl is up to…

Here is the description from Chapters:

Amber Patterson is fed up. She’s tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more—a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.

To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne—a socialite and philanthropist—and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.

Amber’s envy could eat her alive . . . if she didn't have a plan. Amber uses Daphne’s compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family’s life—the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long, Amber is Daphne’s closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters, and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked towards, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.

With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, The Last Mrs. Parrish is a fresh, juicy, and utterly addictive thriller from a diabolically imaginative talent.

Happy Reading! Have a great weekend :)
