Weekend Update

Happy Monday! I hope everyone back in Canada had a great Canada Day:)

Tj and I have noticed we've been a little stuck in our routine lately, so this weekend we wanted to make more of an effort to get out. It worked... and then it didn't lol.

Friday night we went to see the movie Sicario 2. It was ok... I didn't even fall asleep! I've never seen the first one but Tj says it was better.

On Friday when I was walking home from the train station, I picked up a few groceries and then got the movie tickets. I walked through this store that was having a big sale. I picked up some sports clothes that were on a rack that said $5 but the price tags said $15, so I just thought they were on the wrong rack or something. It was still a good deal so I went ahead and bought them. It was a short line but it took forever because everyone in front of me had armfuls of stuff. Finally, I got to the cash and everything was $5! Such a great sale! I was getting hungry by then and I didn't feel like waiting in line again, so I decided to go back the next morning and have another look.

The next morning I went back and bought some really good gifts (and something for myself too), and then we remembered Tj's sister is having a baby, so we went back again and bought some really cute teeny tiny baby clothes for her. One little outfit regular price would've been $70 and we got it for $10! Insane. I'm never paying full price for anything again.

That night we went to Lygon Street, which is kind of like the Little Italy of Melbourne. Tj found a good restaurant to try. It was pretty cold out - I even had to wear a tuque. The restaurant was ok but Tj made a pasta the other weekend that was better than my meal (except for the bacon chunks he mixed in his so he wouldn't have to share haha). We both ordered way too much food but that's ok because pasta leftovers always taste better the next day anyways.  We had a nice night out though and it was fun to check out a new area of town. We've been there before but not on a Saturday night.

So the first half of the weekend was good and productive. Sunday, not so much lol. I got up early and got groceries and went to our new favourite bakery. Tj was up all night watching soccer and when he woke up he watched more soccer. Is there a big soccer event on or something? (just kidding).

I wanted to check out a pub that was supposed to be having a Canada party. I was all set to wear my Ottawa Senators jersey. I was thinking about how that was a thing in London, that on Canada Day I saw sooo many hockey jerseys. And when I was out doing groceries in Melbourne I totally saw a guy in a Vancouver jersey but he was too far away for me to wish him a happy Canada Day. So I guess wearing hockey jerseys for Canada Day is a thing here too!

We didn't end up doing anything for Canada Day, but least I can say I left the house on Sunday hahaha Tj. We did go through some of the things he is going to pack on his upcoming trip, and we did a new monthly budget, so we got some life admin stuff out of the way too.

The best part of the weekend was booking a ticket for Jacob to come visit us in August! Woohoo. I'm already online shopping for things in Canada that he can bring to me haha. And we might try and plan a little weekend away somewhere else too so now the fun of travel planning begins!

Been missing everyone back home and feeling a little homesick this holiday so it's super nice to have a little project and something to look forward to!

Hope you all had a great weekend!
