Finding Time to Read
Happy Friday!
Almost weekend woohoo. I love my work but I still love my weekends :) This weekend I really want to go for brunch and maybe see a movie and have a nap!
People will sometimes ask me where I find the time to read so much. I've never really thought about it because it's such a part of my daily lifestyle but here are some of my favourite times to read.
Before Bed - I try to go to bed nice and early - about half an hour before I actually hope to fall asleep. This is when I get my best reading done. My phone is put away, and I read until my eyes are tired and I can't keep them open and I keep reading the same sentence over and over. Then I know I am tired enough to sleep and I drift off no problem.
On my commute - I take public transportation to work every day so my commuting time is perfect to sneak in some reading. In London I'd read on the iPad but in Melbourne, the train I take is even more crowded than London (can you believe it?) and I only go two stops, so I just read my ebook on my phone. Luckily the app syncs when I get home and the iPad will update to my page automatically.
Saturday mornings on the couch - Tj sleeps in longer than I do, so I love having some Me Time on Saturday mornings. I'll make a big cup of tea and have a cookie while I read, keep the tv off so I don't wake up Tj. Sometimes I even fall back asleep haha.
When I'm watching TV - There are a lot of TV shows I like to watch, but it drives Tj crazy because I don't sit and watch them. There are very few shows that I sit down and give my full attention. I'm usually tidying up, or on the computer, or yes, I read.
Here's the thing about a reading lifestyle. I just always have a book with me. I bring one everywhere. It makes me so much more patient. I'm waiting for someone - no problem. My train is late - yes, I can finish that chapter. Tj is taking too long trying things on at the store (yes this actually happened) - it's all good, I'm at a really good part anyway.
Also, I don't have kids or pets or family or friends here, so it makes it a lot easier. Although, I pretty much read the same amount when I am at home, just in between more social interaction haha.
Hope you have a great weekend!
P.S. Tj read 2 books in less than 2 weeks! I think that's a new record for him :)
