What I'm Reading Now
Happy Friday!
This week has just flown by. I am really looking forward to the weekend and naps! I always try to sleep in but I never can. Sometimes I'll wake up, have a cuppa tea and a cookie, and then read on the couch until I fall back asleep. It's the best!
Right now I am reading the book Fifty Fifty by James Patterson and Candice Fox. This is the third book in the Harriet Blue series. This is a suspense book about an Australian detective who's had a rough upbringing.
I had this book on hold at the library. I've been reading a lot of long, dark, kind of scary books, and while this is a mystery/suspense novel, it's a pretty light read. The chapters are really short and perfect for reading on the train. And it's set in Australia, which is a nice bonus. Even though it's part of a series, I don't think you need to read the earlier novels unless you want to get to know the characters a bit better.
Here is the description from Chapters.ca:
What are the chances that convicted killer Sam Blue is innocent of the serial murders of three young women? Determined to clear his name, no matter the cost to her career, Detective Harriet Blue accepts a risky reassignment to a remote town where a diary found on the roadside reveals a murderous plan. And the first killing, shortly after her arrival, suggests that the clock is already ticking. Meanwhile, back in the city, a young woman holds the key to crack Harriet's brother's case wide open. If only she could escape the madmen holding her hostage.
