I Got My Eyebrows Microbladed

Happy Wednesday!

This week is flying by and I am super excited because Friday is a holiday here! Woohoo!

Today's blog is all about eyebrows!

A few months ago I had my eyebrows microbladed. And I am obsessed!

Here's how I described microblading to Tj:

It's like an eyebrow tattoo where they draw on individual hairs. It'll last about a year or so but don't worry, you won't even notice a difference.

Why I did it:

My eyebrows are very fair and I used to like to wear makeup to fill them in, which is a pain in the butt and doesn't look very natural. And they don't grow. I rubbed castor oil on my brows twice a day for like a year and nothing changed!

Before the appointment:

I found The Real Sarah Lea on Instagram (so sometimes social media really works!). I honestly think she's the best in Melbourne and one of the best I've seen period. I looked at others that came recommended on blogs or articles online and I wasn't really impressed. Their pictures just didn't look as natural to me and weren't what I wanted at all. This is something I would normally ask my friends or family for recommendations. Then I found Sarah and she had the most amazing picture of blonde eyebrows! I followed her online for a while to see more of her work and get a feel for her style and then I was ready to book. Leading up to it I wasn't nervous at all just really excited.

Day of Appointment:

My appointment started with a consultation where I could ask any questions and Sarah told me what to expect. I really trusted she was going to do a good job and I took her guidance on shape and colour. My biggest concern was that they would turn out too dark. She spent a lot of time measuring and remeasuring my face and drawing on the shape. I had never realized how uneven my eyebrows were!

The Procedure:

It felt like getting my eyebrows threaded really slowly. It didn't hurt, it was just a bit uncomfortable. Then she put on numbing cream and I didn't feel anything at all. I could hear it a little bit, kind of like at the dentist.

It was very relaxing and she had awesome music playing and I swear I almost fell asleep lol. I was there for about three hours, as expected.

As someone who wears makeup almost every day, and even on days where I don't do my makeup I would usually still add eyebrows, even I was a little shocked when I first looked in the mirror. They were dark. The shape so different - way better - but different than I was used to.

I took public transportation home right after my appointment and I didn't get any funny looks so I  knew I couldn't have looked that crazy.

That night I had to sleep with cream on my eyebrows and cling wrap on my face so they wouldn't dry out LOL. I was so scared I would roll over in my sleep.

Day 2:

They were even darker on the second day. They weren't sore at all. Again I was out in public and no one seemed to notice but when I facetimed Jacob he kept laughing at me.

Healing:

Over the next week, they started healing. They would flake off a bit, kind of like tiny scabs but they looked like dry skin. They were super itchy which is how I knew they were healing. I followed my aftercare instructions to a T. It was about a week before the settled down. Sarah gave me a picture of what to expect and it was so spot on.

I got mine done on a weekend but I was told that sometimes people take time off work. I didn't really care. People at work asked me what I was doing that weekend and I 'warned' them that I was getting my eyebrows done and I might look crazy next week but they could ask me about them haha. They were definitely more noticeable on Monday, but I thought it just looked like I put on too much eyebrow pencil or something. Not a big deal at all.

I went back about 4 weeks later and she touched up some areas where the colour didn't stick and made sure they were perfect.

Final Thoughts:

Seriously, such a good decision! For the first time in my life, I have eyebrows :) I save so much time in the morning and honestly if I didn't tell you I don't think you would know I had them done. Even Jacob was really impressed when he came to Australia and saw them in person. If you are thinking of doing it you should go for it! My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. And I also wish my friends and family lived in Australia because I would totally recommend my girl to them!

I saw a video on Facebook and I found a link: Dad Rants About Daughter’s Eyebrows and it made me laugh because I always ask Tj now if he likes my new eyebrows hahaha.

If you have any questions about my experience getting my eyebrows microbladed let me know!
