Audiobook Update
Happy Friday!
I hope you are having a good week so far. I am so ready for the weekend. We had an awesome weekend with Dave and Lauryn last week, but we really squeezed in a lot in just a few days. I can't wait to sleep in and go to the gym and read a lot and watch tv. I'm sure we will we watching lots of tennis. Tj and I actually have tickets to the Australian Open on Saturday. We don't know who will be playing yet, but hopefully it will be a good match!
In between reading books and listening to podcasts, I also really enjoy listening to audiobooks.
I remember being really young and driving with my mom and Aunt Marlene to Peterborough and they would listen to audiobooks and I thought it was the weirdest thing. Now I love audiobooks. They are so good for long roadtrips. They are also good on airplanes when you want to close your eyes but still listen to something.
Years ago I would get audiobooks on cds from the library. I would save the cds to my computer and then upload to my phone. It was such a process! And then eventually I could just get audiobooks from the library and download directly to my phone. So much easier.
I had a subscription to Audible but I recently cancelled. My credits were accumulating, and a lot of the audiobooks I wanted weren't available on Audible Australia. I plan on trying a subscription to Kobo audiobooks, but for now I am getting through the ones I already have.
When you get a good audiobook it is completely captivating. I used to find it weird when the same person would do the voices for different characters but you get used to it so quickly, it isn't distracting. I think the Harry Potter audiobook series by Jim Dale is absolutely brilliant, I made my Dad listen to one on the way to PEI a few years ago. I'll have to drive to PEI with him many more times to make it through the whole series lol.
Tj and Jacob also love audiobooks and they are always my test audience to see if something is good or if it's just me. In fact when we all drove to PEI together, they didn't want to stop and would rush back to the car to continue listening to whatever audiobook we had playing.
Nowadays when I'm not traveling, I listen to an audiobook, and then I might do podcasts for a few weeks before starting another audiobook.
But since I shared all the books I read in 2018, I thought I'd also share the audiobooks I listened to, although some of these go back to 2017:
