New Year's Eve 2018

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are having a great week so far. Today's post is about New Year's Eve 2018. On New Year’s Eve we went to a party at Arboury. The location of this place is so good! It is right downtown on the Yarra River. Tickets were 200$ which is pricy, but it included unlimited drinks and food.

We had to get there pretty early to get a good spot, but luckily Tj knew some other people going and they saved us a place to sit right near the DJ booth.

They had fresh pizzas and an oyster bar, and lots of little fancy sandwiches and other snacks. My friends were superstars and flagged to the waitresses that I am vegetarian so they brought me my own little vegetarian plate, and always came to me when they were circulating with vegetarian options. The drink selection was ok but they ran out of the mix for drinks and then all they had was soda water which is not my favourite.

The entertainment was awesome. They had a DJ, but they also had drag queens singing and people in weird unitard costumes dancing around. I can safely say that my last few hours of 2018 were a lot of fun.

But my start to 2019 was only so-so. The fireworks in Melbourne last year were spectacular. They went off from buildings all over downtown. We weren’t expecting it and were really impressed with the show. This year I was so excited to show Dave and Lauryn. Unfortunately, as I was watching the firework something fell into my eye. It was so irritating and I couldn’t get it out. Shortly after that, I was sitting down (probably rubbing my eye) and an orange fell out of the tree and hit me on the head haha. It was not my night. Hopefully, that is not a sign of the year ahead.

I did a New Year's Eve post last year and it was also meant to include my goals for 2018. I wanted to really sit down and think about everything I wanted to accomplish and be really purposeful about what I wanted to work. But I never got around to doing that lol. So here we go for 2019!

I don’t necessarily like resolutions but I do think it’s important to reflect on the previous year – what went well, what I’d like to do better. You can do that anytime but the start of a new year feels so fresh, and it’s easy to benchmark with where you were that time in the previous year.

I read once that people who write down their goals are 80% more likely to achieve them. I don’t know if that’s true or not but feels like a good place to start.

Here are some of the things I want to work on in 2019:

  • Meditate 2x week

  • Write 3 hours a week

  • Spend less time on my phone

  • Live more minimally

  • Visit 2 new countries

  • Save more $$

Have a great day :)
