International Women's Day 2020

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend. Tj and I are away for a few days and it’s unreal. We think we have found the most beautiful beaches in the world. I can’t wait to share our adventures with you!

Sunday was International Women’s Day.

From their website:

“International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for moving towards gender parity.”

International Women's Day is an important opportunity to educate and inspire others about the role of women in society, from celebrating women's achievements through to challenging gender stereotypes and bias.

international Women’s Day makes me think of all the strong, successful and supportive women in my life. I am so lucky to be inspired by my mom, my grandmothers, and all my aunts, my cousins, and my friends. Being a woman means something different to all of us, yet we are all still a tribe.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned from observing all these lovely ladies over the years is that women can do anything. We can rule the boardroom, bake the cookies, do the home repairs, take care of families.

Because of all the different female role models in my life, I realise that I have never once thought that there is anything I can’t do because I am a woman because there are so many women in my life kicking goals in different ways. And also importantly, they taught me that even though we can do it all, we don’t need to. I can fix the broken washing machine but I still prefer not to take the garbage out.

The theme this year is #EachforEqualAn equal world is an enabled world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world. Let's all be #EachforEqual.

Have a great week!
