Australian Open 2020

Happy Monday!

I hope you are having a great week so far! We had an amazing vacation in Bali last week with my family. It was epic! I’ll share more about that next week, but today I wanted to share some pictures from the Australian Open 2020.

Attending the Australian Open has become a bit of a yearly tradition. We went for the first time in 2018, and again last year in 2019.

We were so excited when tennis time came around this year. We decided to go earlier in the week and went on day 3. We also decided to switch it up and go to Margaret Court Arena, rather than Rod Laver Arena. As it was still early in the tournament, we thought we had a good chance of seeing some good players. This turned out to be a mistake. Don’t get me wrong, we saw a great match, but if we would’ve stuck to Rod Laver we would’ve seen Roger Federer, who is Tj’s dream player to watch!

The match before us went long, so we actually had time to explore the grounds and get a bite to eat before our game started. I had pizza and Tj had the best chicken burger he’s ever had!

The weather wasn’t too hot… such a nice change from last year when I got sunburned through my pants (or burned by my pants which overheated in the sun… lol).  If you look at some of my pictures, the sky looks red and cloudy. This was due to a dust storm that was blowing in.

We saw Jordan Thompson (Australia) vs. Fabio Fognini (Italy). The match lasted 4 hours! It was a lot of fun to watch an Australian player in Australia… the crowd was very loud for Thompson. It went on for so long that the women’s match that was supposed to be after was moved to another court.

We got out of there around midnight and it was raining. We had to run around to try and find a taxi but luckily it didn’t take that long. Unfortunately, the dust storm from earlier collided with the rain, and it was raining mud. We didn’t notice it then, but the next morning everything was dirty, and our shirts and my purse were all stained.

Lucky Tj went back to the Australian Open with a grounds pass on Friday, and on Saturday he went again and got to see Halep and Nadal play.

I can’t wait to go back next year. Hopefully some of our other favourite tennis players will stick around longer in the tournament next year so we can get a chance to see them play.

It’s Sunday night as I am writing this and I have to go because we are watching the men’s finals!

Have a great week :)
