Our Virtual Baby Showers

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend.

The last few weekends, me and Tj and Baby Tj have been absolutely spoiled with love!

Two weeks ago we had a virtual baby shower with friends and family from back home. It was kind of a surprise because I knew something was coming but I didn't know what to expect. It was so nice to log on and see everyone. And everyone used a background that is our gallery wall in our living room, so it was like they were right here with us! There was a video and a slide show and a quiz game. I was worried about how they would pull it off, but it went off without a hitch. Tj and I really enjoyed it! My mom ordered us some balloons and flowers and contributed prizes.  And Tj was an absolute superstar. He ran around town and picked up treats and decorations so that it would be even more festive. He even bought gold paper and cut out letters to spell Baby Tj haha.

And then this weekend we had another surprise baby shower with my other family!  We were playing a game of family trivia and then they very sneakily transitioned it into a baby shower. It was the bonus question, and I was like what is going on… how did everyone know the answer to that very obscure question?! (I don’t remember the exact question, but the answer was baby shower!) There were balloons and some unique artwork and it was a lot of fun. We were all able to chat a bit longer and everyone gave us tips and advice (a lot of which was, don't worry about anyone's advice, you'll figure it out) haha.

What a lovely way to start our Sunday mornings! Despite the distance and being all the way on the other side of the world, our families and friends have made us feel so special and so loved. When I first found out I was pregnant, I was a little nervous because I knew things would be very different than I always imagined, first because we live so far away and second because of COVID. I never thought we would still be in the same position now that we are so much closer to the baby being born. It would be easy to get sad about the things I would miss out on, like showing people my big belly and freaking out my brother by letting him feel her kicks haha. Or I'd see a baby shower in the park and everyone having a picnic and feel a bit sad that I wouldn't get to celebrate with everyone like that.

But seriously, these baby showers were so much better! It was just so nice to have the chance to see everyone we care about and feel their excitement for Baby Tj, and Tj was able to participate as well. We weren't expecting any gifts, but this little girl was so spoiled and we really appreciate everyone thinking of her and taking time from their weekends to celebrate with us.! Our virtual events felt so personal and Baby Tj is so lucky to have so much love around her already.

Big thank you to everyone! Xoxo

And I hope everyone starts their week with as much love and positivity as we are feeling today!

Have a great week :)
