Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

There is no Thanksgiving in Australia, and our hearts are back home with all our friends and family this weekend. I miss all the food, especially stuffing! LOL I love a good vegetarian stuffing. Tj and I thought about making our own Thanksgiving dinner but decided against it because we are lazy haha.

Instead, we decided to fulfill another Thanksgiving tradition and tell each other what we are thankful for.

I am thankful for my family and friends. My family are my friends and my friends are my family, and even when I am on the other side of the world I feel like they are always with me. I am also thankful for the technology that makes staying in touch so easy! Being so far away makes me realise how important the people and relationships in my life are to me and makes me appreciate how lucky I am. It can be super lonely here not having a social circle, but I talk to my mom in the morning and my dad after work, and I snapchat my cousins and friends all day and watch the notifications fill my lock screen when there is something going on in the group chat. And I know that I'm never really alone :)

I am thankful for the family and friends that are no longer with us. Both Tj and I have experienced some major losses in our families over the last few years and while celebrating holidays without some key people seems so weird, it's always so nice to be all together (I wanted to write a bit more here but I'm getting a little mushy so moving on haha).

I am thankful for my health and the health of my loved ones.

I am thankful for Tj. For two people who are often very opposite, it's very reassuring to move across the world together where we don't know anyone and find that we actually like hanging out all the time. And not just because we have no other friends lol.

I am thankful for Australia. It's a beautiful country and we are very happy here. The weather is great, the food is awesome, and all the people I've met are all very kind and have a great sense of humour. I am also thankful for the Australian slang that makes me laugh.

I am thankful for the million little things that make me happy every day, like chai lattes, and chocolate, and Netflix, and dogs, and puppies, and animals, and animal videos on Instagram, and soft blankets, and poutine, and puzzles, and Harry Potter, and cribbage, and so many books, and fancy hand soaps, and traveling.

Finally, I am thankful that Tj did so much cleaning (for once!) this weekend and our apartment looks great. We are all set to start the week ahead! We will need the extra push this week — the time changed 1 hour ahead and we didn't even realize it. Luckily, Jacob phoned us at 3:30 in the morning on Sunday and we found out the hard way. It's very confusing when everything just updates automatically now haha.

Have a great week :)
