My Favourite Book Series

Happy Friday!

We have some friends arriving from out of town today so we will be travelling over the weekend. We have had a busy week getting settled in the new place, so it will nice to relax, hopefully on a nice beach.

Here are my some of my favourite book series of all time. I love series because I love seeing what happens next for the characters. These are a few of the ones that I've read over and over. I've fallen in love with the characters and adventures and opening them up again is like reconnecting with a good friend. I get so excited when the next book comes out!

Harry Potter by J.K Rowling - I love Harry Potter! There are only 7 books in this series. I was first introduced by my Aunt Marlene, who bought me the first three books after she read about them in a magazine. I didn't start them right away because I thought they were for kids. When Aunt Marlene passed away unexpectedly, I was drawn to read the books. And I fell in love! I love all the characters and the whole magical world J.K. Rowling has built. I love her writing style how the series gets so much darker in the later books. In the final book, there are some deaths and that is the only time I've even had to put a book aside for a few days because I was too upset LOL. The movies are great, but I think everyone needs to read the books at least once to fully appreciate the series.

Myron Bolitar by Harlan Coben - There are 11 books in this series currently but I am hoping he will write more. Myron is a sports agent who helps his clients when they are in difficult situations. I love the supporting characters, especially Win who is Myron's best friend and business partner, who also happens to be kind of a psychopath. I have the movie perfectly cast in my head. Tj and Jacob are used to me referring to some of these characters in conversation.

Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery - Did you know Anne of Green Gables was a series? There are 8 books! I actually love the some of the later ones when Anne is more grown up and she finally falls in love with Gilbert. I don't know if it's because I have a connection with PEI, but I love Anne (with an 'e') and her spirit and imagination and I loved seeing her mature and grow up.

Some other series I love, but have only read once:

  • Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan (3 books)
  • The Rosie Project by Graeme Simison (2 books)
  • Neanderthal Parallex by Robert J. Sawyer (3 books)
  • To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han (YA) (3 books)
  • Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (3 books)
  • Tony Hill/Carol Jordan by Val McDermid (10 books)

Ok seriously, after writing this post I want to go back and re-read all these books! I think I will have to dedicate one month this year to just re-reading some old favourites.

Have a great weekend :)
