2020 Reading Goals
Happy Friday!
I hope you are having a great week so far! Tj and I had a very busy week. We went to the Australian Open on Wednesday night, and Tj is going back again today and tomorrow! My mom and Pete arrive later tonight and then we are all heading on an adventure for a few days. I am so excited! It’s going to be awesome to have a little trip and then show them around Melbourne.
I always think I will read more than I do when I travel, but often I find I read a little less than usual. I still need to make sure I have my next few reads lined up before I go away because I would hate to be stuck on a plane without a book. As I pick the books to take on my trip, I want to keep my 2020 reading goals in mind.
Here are the reading goals I’ve set for myself in 2020:
Finish my TBR (to be read) pile
I have about 10 books that I’ve bought and haven’t read yet or I’ve started and haven’t finished. Whenever I don’t have a library book to read, I am going to reach for something I already own rather than try and find something else available. Hopefully I will finish these ones by May.
Re-read one old favourite a month
When I did my end of year book survey for 2019, I was a little surprised that I hadn’t re-read that many books last year. After watching Anne with an E on Netflix, I am craving some more of the Anne of Green Gables series, probably the later books when she is a bit older. My goal is to re-read or listen to the audiobook of one old favourite every month.
Read 5 French books
I never have to speak French anymore and I feel like I am losing it. When I read books in French it takes me forever because I have to read every word, but sometimes reading out loud is good practice. This goal might help me with the one above as well because sometimes I like to read old favourites in French. I already somewhat know what is happening so it makes it a bit easier lol.
More book reviews
When I find a book I love I want to pause for a moment and think about what I enjoyed about it, not just forget it when I am finished. It was a little sad that when I did my favourite books of 2019 post, I had to look up what some of them were about. I had rated them 5/5 but couldn’t remember what happened or how they ended.
