Best Things We've Bought During Lockdown

Best Things We've Bought During Lockdown

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend.

It's mandatory to wear masks now any time we are outside, so that makes our daily walks to get coffee/chai a lot less enjoyable. I've been turning to my yoga mat rather than go for long walks, but Tj managed to squeeze in a few runs this weekend (running without a mask is one of the only exceptions). We also watched a few movies, did groceries and I finished reading two books.

We are at the point in Lockdown 2.0 where all the days are blending together. How is it almost August? What have we done for the last six months?

Well, we haven't travelled anywhere, and we’ve only been to one or two restaurants - but I can tell you one thing - I've definitely been doing my share of online shopping.

When we started working from home, the first things we needed were home office supplies. Tj and I both needed desks and some small home office supplies to set up our work from home spaces. I've written before about the many many Ikea trips and multiple times we re-arranged our home workspaces but we finally got it right.

Next, I found myself wanting to buy comfy clothes like sweatshirts and warm socks. I wanted all things soft and fluffy. I feel like we are really winning having coronavirus during our fall and winter seasons. The colder weather is an added incentive to staying home.

During the first few weeks of working from home, we started feeling some new aches and pains. Office ergonomics are real! The biggest thing that helped me was moving my mouse to the other hand, but there were many evening where my shoulder was so sore. I ordered a weird back massager online that was similar to one that was one of Oprah's favourite things and had excellent Amazon reviews (I also ordered one for my dad for his birthday). My review is it's ok - It's better than nothing and definitely helps, so I guess it was worth it. But it doesn't even come close to the 10$ massages we were getting in Bali a few months ago. We also accidentally ordered two posture correctors. We each thought we were supposed to order one to share. I've worn mine for about an hour total and I don't think Tj has worn his at all. LOL, the posture corrector is possibly beneficial, but definitely not our most-used lockdown purchase.

Along the way, I have bought some other things, like new makeup to try (and of course that meant new organisers for my makeup), a few puzzles, nail polish, some fancy teas, and of course, books.

We had to buy a few more expensive items as well. Unfortunately, we needed a new TV when ours broke, and Tj had to replace his AirPods after he lost them. There is no way we would've survived this lockdown without Netflix and our movie channels.

But by far, the best things we've bought during lockdown are a fabric shaver and a dustbuster.

I bought this fabric shaver from Target Australia for $13.00 AUD. It is so much fun to use! Tj and I were immediately hooked. We cleaned up some sweaters and hoodies and they look brand new! It made some of our old favourites feel so fresh and look so much better. I've started using this on my socks and pyjamas, and anything that's starting to look a little ratty. It's actually very meditative and relaxing. It's so satisfying to start with a small area and you can see how much better the item starts to look. I'm telling you, if you don't have one of these in your life you should get one haha. It's definitely renewed some items in my wardrobe and is by far my favourite lockdown purchase.

The runner up is our new dustbuster. We bought this on sale at our grocery store last week and it's already come in handy. To be honest, this little dustbuster is probably better quality and more powerful than our actual vacuum. It is so handy to clean crumbs and tidy up messes. We will definitely get a lot of use out of this guy.

It’s the simple pleasures that mean so much during these uncertain times.

I hope you've enjoyed our lockdown shopping adventures haha.

Have a great week:)
