Happy Birthday Dad!
Happy Monday and happy birthday to my dad!
In honour of his birthday, I could tell you the story about how my dad saved Ottawa by stomping out a field fire with just his shoes, but instead, I’m going to tell you what my dad taught me about black socks.
When I was a kid, my dad told me never to wear black socks because if my feet get wet, the dye from the socks would go into my blood.
So for most of my life, I avoided black socks.
Cut to like a few years ago, when I was at a sports store looking for socks to wear to the gym. I found myself shaking my head in disbelief that Nike would make black gym socks… didn’t they know how dangerous that would be when your feet get sweaty?
And then I laughed in the store because it was the first time in my life that I realized that that advice probably didn’t hold true anymore.
I’m assuming that I don’t need to worry about black socks anymore, but I wanted to share my dad’s words of wisdom so you can form your own opinion :)
I love that story because even though he told me that so many years ago, I never forgot it and never questioned my dad’s theory haha. I wonder what other advice I should be reconsidering.
You can read more about my dad here, or laugh at his favourite dad jokes, or check out his favourite books.
Happy birthday Dad!
Have a great week :)
