Market Haul

Happy Monday!

I can't believe it's October. 2018 is just flying by so fast.

We had a lazy long weekend here and let me tell you we needed it. It was nice to sleep in and watch TV and read books and have naps. Last week was exhausting but now I feel refreshed and ready to take on the week.

The weather was up and down all weekend. We spent a lot of time walking around on Saturday and Tj found us a yummy brunch spot. I had the BEST chai latte since I've moved to Melbourne. And that's saying a lot because the chai lattes here are generally terrific.

There were so many people out on Saturday because it was the AFL finals. Tj and I went to an AFL game once but we never got into it. All of the patios and bars were packed and everyone was wearing their team’s colours. There was a lot of police out too, and we saw them just pulling cars over and breathalyzing people on the spot. They do not mess around when it comes to keeping the roads safe.

Aside from some exploring, Tj and I finally made it to the Prahran Market for the $15 veggie boxes. Basically, you get a cardboard box and you load it up with as much as you want from the stand for $15. Some items have limits like you can only take one cauliflower or one pineapple, but for all the other stuff it is pretty much whatever you can carry. We were also being mindful that we didn’t want to waste anything and we still had some veggies at home.

It was fun! Next time we will go earlier in the day when there is a better selection, but doing the math, we still paid less than we would have paid in the store. And I also got some flowers so it's beginning to feel like spring around here.

The rest of Sunday was spent cooking for the rest of the week, and washing and cutting a lot of vegetables and by the time I was done I wasn’t even that hungry and I burned my chickpeas lol.

But its Sunday night and this blog post is gonna be a short one because I have to get back to relaxing and reading :)

Have a great week!
