Getting Organised

Getting Organised

TEMPLATE - getting organised.jpg

Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well so far!

We have been busy around the house lately. Tj is getting ready to leave for a work trip. I'm going to be alone in Australia for the first time. I'm kind of excited because Tj can be really messy so I'm looking forward to having a cleaner flat LOL. (Sure, I'll miss him, but like I said yesterday - he's going to bring me back some ketchup chips! If only we could figure out how to bring back poutine!)

When living in a small apartment, having just a few things out of place can make it feel so cluttered. In London we learned to live with the minimum. We only had one tiny closet for both of us and all our stuff! We had to be really creative with storage solutions. We were lucky that our luggage fit under the bed, so we could store all our out of season stuff there.

I love our new apartment in Melbourne because it feels so big! We have a huge closet and lots of cupboards, and extra storage in the washing machine closet. We even have a storage locker.

But there are a few things I want to be more organised. I love being organised! I definitely do not get my organisational skills from my mother! Hahaha. Sorry mom but it's true. Tj is just like my mom! My Aunt Kim and cousin Tammy are very organised though. Maybe I get it from them. I feel like when everything has a place or you have a system for doing things, it makes it so much easier to find things you are looking for.

So while Tj is gone I have some plans! I'm going to get this place organised! Bahaha.

Here are some things I want to organise while he is gone:

  • Beauty products - we both have lots of extra products lying around in different spots. Tj has like four extra men's bags (makeup bags?). Some are at the top of our kitchen cupboard because there is space, but I think it looks stupid. I'm going to try to find a better spot for all of our extra stuff, and make place for all our extra toilet paper rolls and tissue
  • Extra furniture - we don't have too much stuff here, but there's a few things that didn't look good in the apartment that we have stored on the balcony for now. I want to bring them down to the storage locker for the winter so they don't get ruined
  • Art - we brought a few pieces of artwork from Canada. Some of it won't go with our décor, but there's some stuff I want to put up that we haven't gotten around to yet. I bought all these hooks that won't damage the walls so I'm all ready to go
  • Groceries - I feel like I am always going to the grocery store and spending so much money on food, and then end up wasting and throwing a lot out. I try to make a list and plan meals, but it's hard to get Tj to give me ideas. Half the time he just makes noodles for himself. When I've just got to worry about me, it'll be a lot easier to be organised when grocery shopping. I'll have to figure out a better long term plan to prevent wasting food though.
  • Junk cupboards - We haven't even been here that long and we already have junk cupboards! I'm going to organise mine because I'm sure some of the junk has a better spot. And anything Tj leaves lying around before he leaves is going straight into his junk cupboard so I don't have to look at it while he's gone haha

The best part of Tj being gone is I just get to do everything exactly how I want to! LOL. Usually he's so opinionated so this is a treat for me! I'll make sure to take some before and after pictures to show you how it goes!

Have a good day:)
