Travel Throwback Thursday: Greece
Happy Thursday!
Well Tj left this morning and he has a long travel day ahead of him. I am jealous he gets to squeeze in a visit to Canada but I don't mind missing that long flight! Now that I've started a new job we aren't sure when we will be doing our next big trip, so I thought I'd start sharing some of our previous travels.
Last May we had the trip of a lifetime! We had been planning a completely different trip, but once we found out we were going to be moving away from Europe, we wanted to make sure we traveled to some of the places at the top of our Europe Bucket List. We traveled to three countries over twelve days, and a new city every two days. There were planes and trains and ferries and buses!
The last leg of the trip was Greece. We stayed in Mykonos and Santorini.
In Mykonos I loved wandering through Little Venice and watching the sunset! It was surprisingly cold. I have a rule about always packing a hoodie when I travel, but we were travelling really light for this trip, and I thought I'd be ok with a couple of long sleeve shirts but I was just freezing at night. I tried to find a cheap tourist shop selling a Greece sweatshirt or something but we couldn't find anything. We walked uphill back to our hotel that night so that definitely helped warm me up lol.
The food was amazing! I wish I could remember the name of our hotel but it arguably the best breakfast buffets I've ever had. Thang even snuck a plate in the room to eat late at night LOL.
We met a fun couple from Canada and we went with them to a beach club one afternoon. It was so nice and so different than anything I've ever done before. I think this was Tj's favourite thing we did on the whole trip! Everyone just hung out on bean bag chairs on the sand and a Dj played music. Once the sun set it definitely became more clubby.
Next we went to Santorini. It was busy and felt a little bit too touristy, but the views were incredible and the sunset was another jawdropper. There was so much more to see that we didn't have time for, but I would love to go back to Oia in Santorini as a millionaire one day and stay at one of the ridiculous hotels.
Ahh… this really makes me want to start planning our next trip!
Hope you're having a good week so far :)
