Weekend Update
Happy Monday!
Hope you had a great weekend.
I thought our weekend was going to be really lazy but actually, we had a lot of fun!
On Saturday I did some shopping and then we went to the CBD (downtown) for lunch. Tj had to return something and pick up a few things for his holiday. We had a nice coffee, walked around a bit, and I even picked up a book for his trip.
I went to a big bookstore and picked out a few options for him. He didn't even look at them, he was only interested in the latest Harlan Coben standalone novel, Don't Let Go. Tj's reasoning is that he already knows he likes his books so he knows he will get into it. I guess I can't argue with that. I already own the book on my Kobo e-reader app, but I am not letting Tj take my new iPad since he lost the other one the last time he travelled.
We watched a movie, went to the gym and did groceries. Typical weekend stuff.
On Sunday I went to the other grocery store, and on the way, I saw these cool painted cars on a blocked off street. It turns out this exhibit is called Whatever You Dream by David Bromley. It is part of the Provocaré Festival of the Arts. I've been seeing advertising for this festival along Chapel Street for the past few weeks, so it was nice to stumble upon it unexpectedly.
I went back to my new favourite bakery and picked up a sausage roll for Tj's breakfast and fresh sourdough bread to make awesome grilled cheese. When Tj was done watching soccer all morning, we cleaned, went for a coffee, browsed in some shops, went to the gym and the market, and then I finished the book I was reading and had a long nap.
Nothing super special, just our typical weekend. I realize this post is kind of boring. Hey - we did groceries and walked around - is not the most exciting thing to read about.
But it was interesting for us because we were both noticing how comfortable we are here. We have a favourite place to go to for cheap Chinese food and know what's cheaper at which grocery store. It's so nice. We have no idea where we will be in the next few years. We talk about it all the time but really we have no clue what will happen next. It's such a relief to me that even though we are soooooooooo far away from Canada, we have managed to make Melbourne feel like home.
One of the highlights of the weekend - Tj is like 95% packed for his trip with everything already ironed and folded in his luggage. After so many years together, I think my organization skills are finally starting to rub off on him! Now if I can just figure out how to get him to do dishes…
Have a great week!
