Engagement Story
Happy Wednesday!
I have been so obsessed with the Thailand Cave Rescue story! As I write this on Tuesday night Australia time, I really hope I wake up tomorrow to news that the remaining boys and their coach have been rescued safely and that they are alive and doing well! I pray for the diver who lost his life, but I am really hoping the story has a happy ending.
Two years ago on July 10, 2016, Tj and I got engaged! So today I thought I'd share our engagement story and some pictures from that special day.
It started early in the morning. I woke up and was reading in bed and then Tj just pulled the ring box out and placed it on my book (I say he dropped it but he says it was intentional lol). I was completely in shock and not expecting it at all!
This was just a few months after our Hamburg trip where I got the impression it was never going to happen, and then after joking he missed his shot in perfect Positano, I really didn't think it was coming any time soon. Now I didn't know this at the time, but Tj had already talked to my parents a long time ago, so they knew something was coming. I guess some family would zoom in on pictures to look for a ring and finally, one of my aunts speculated that maybe I had just said no hahaha (I love that story!). This was the definitely the last thing I was expecting on a regular Sunday morning in London.
I was in shock but so happy! I think Tj was relieved it was over and I said yes haha. Well, it wasn't completely over… he had some great surprises planned for me throughout the day.
He had cleaned the whole flat (woohoo) and chilled the champagne (good planning). We ordered crepes from our favourite restaurant and called all our family. Then we went to my favourite flower market and my favourite tea shop where I got to pick out whatever I wanted. Then we went to dinner on a really rooftop restaurant that was nearby. Afterwards, Tj met his friend at the pub to watch soccer and I went up to the flat and fell into a dark hole on Pinterest haha. It was the perfect day - super low key but so special because it was in our neighbourhood in London!
I went home to Canada a few days later (perfect timing Tj!) and it was so nice to celebrate with my family and girlfriends.
Fun Fact 1: Tj designed the ring himself! He modelled it after ones I had shown him on Pinterest but then he wasn't 100% happy with it. He took it back and re-designed it and 6 months later I had a new ring haha.
Fun Fact #2: The striped placemats in the picture kind of became the inspiration for our wedding décor. Tj didn't like anything too feminine and the stripes were one of the first things we agreed on.
Fun Fact #3: Yes - the ring box had a light!
