Happy Friday!

I hope you are having a good week so far. I am ready for this weekend let me tell you. I am really excited about some of the new books I have lined up to read. Tj has been busy planning some upcoming trips for us, so this weekend it's my turn to find something fun to do. It may or may not involve a stop at the casino to try our 'system' again haha. Just kidding!

Today's Friday Favourite is about the book Tara Road, by Maeve Binchy.

I think this was the first book I read by Maeve Binchy and I was hooked. I was in university and I remember so clearly that I was out with my friends and when I got home at like two in the morning I was so excited to pick it up and keep reading.

Tara Road the story of an Irish woman and an American woman who swap houses one summer. This book is so good! Just writing about it makes me want to read it again. Maybe I'll see if I can find the audiobook.

My favourite thing about Maeve Binchy books are the characters. They are always so wonderfully written. They are complex and real and I become so invested in them and their stories. Seriously, out of all the authors I’ve ever read, I think Maeve Binchy might write the best characters.

I also love the dialogue. It has an Irish twang and so when I read along I totally have the best Irish accent in my mind.

This is such a satisfying read and definitely one of my all time favourites.

Here is the description from Chapters.ca:

A house swap leads to an unlikely and touching friendship, as secrets are unveiled and lives changed.

Ria and Marilyn have never met - they live thousands of miles apart, separated by the Atlantic Ocean: one in a big, warm, Victorian house in Tara Road, Dublin, the other in a modern, open-plan house in New England.

Two more unlikely friends would be hard to find: Ria's life revolves around her family and friends, while Marilyn's reserve is born of grief. But when each needs a place to escape to, a house exchange seems the ideal solution.

Along with the borrowed houses come neighbours and friends, gossip and speculation as Ria and Marilyn swap lives for the summer…

Happy Reading :)
