My Dad's Favourite Books
Happy Friday!
It's Good Friday today, which means I am just days away from chocolate! It's been a long Lent, but I already have my first chocolate bar picked out LOL.
It's also my dad's birthday! Happy birthday Dad!
I wrote a bit about my dad on his birthday last year (some great pictures on that post too!).
In honour of his birthday falling on a Friday book post, I asked him for his top 5 favourite books of all time. But he only gave me 2:
The Neanadrathal Parallex trilogy by Robert J. Sawyer (technically this is three books but I'm counting the trilogy as one)
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Since he didn’t give me enough for a top 5, I thought I’d share some of the things that no matter what always remind me of my Dad:
The songs Fool for Love by Sandy Rogers and Coconut by Harry Nilssonfrom the Resevoir Dogs movie soundtrack. There were a few drives to PEI when I was a kid where I just wanted to listen to these songs on repeat.
Bud the Spud by Stompin’ Tom Connors
The book Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King which I included in my Father’s Day gift ideas last year.
Thumbs that look like big toes
Ladders (one time he slid down a ladder and I thought it was really cool)
The day he ‘saved Ottawa’ and put out a fire just by stomping on it
The movie All Dogs go to Heaven (we had to leave because I was too scared)
Conroy Pits dog park
People who can whistle really loud
Mango pepper salad
The word ‘dounzes’ - as in “Pass me that dounzes”. I don’t actually know what this word means, and I don’t know how to spell it to look it up. My dad says it when he can’t think of the word he’s looking for. Ex. a remote. I was so confused as a kid until he told me someone he worked with had no idea what we was talking about it either LOL.
Phil Kessel hahahahahahahaha (that’s from Tj!)
Hope you have a great birthday Dad!
