Gift Guide: Non-Fiction 2020
Happy Monday!
I hope you had great weekend.
Tj and I went to the CBD (central business district) in Melbourne this weekend. It was so busy! I couldn’t believe how many people were out shopping. It is a really weird feeling to be around so many people again. COVID is pretty much eradicated in Melbourne, as we haven’t had any new cases in over 28 days, and there are currently no active cases. We don’t have to wear masks outside anymore, and things are mostly opened up again. But it is so weird living in this new world. After months of being in lockdown at home, it is great to have some freedom and options to do things other than just go for a walk or browse the grocery store. It took some time to get used to the lockdown and it’s going to take some time for me to get used to the new normal. The best news is that Australian states are opening their borders so it’s looking good our Australian Christmas trip will go ahead!
Last week I shared my fiction gift guide, and today I wanted to share my non-fiction picks. Books are a great gift idea this year because I anticipate people will be spending a lot more time at home this winter. I’m not a big non-fiction reader myself, but here are a few that I’ve read and recommend, and a few that I am seeing everywhere and want to read.
Tried and tested (books I’ve read and recommend):
I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness by Austin Channing Brown
Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson
Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey
A Promised Land by Barack Obama
Extraordinary Canadians by Peter Mansbridge
Stuff You Should Know by Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant
You can check out my other non-fiction gift guides here: 2019 and 2018.
Have a great week!
