Happy Friday!

I hope you are having a great week so far. How good does that cake in my photo look? Tj picked me up a slive when he was out for a run the other week and it was deliciuos! There is a layer of fresh watermelon… yum.

My reading during August was slightly improved from July but still down from my usual volume. I don't know if I'll ever get back to reading as much as I used to. It has me thinking I need to be much more particular about what I read. I've been putting down more books lately. I don't have time to waste reading something I'm not enjoying. And so far it's been paying off… I really enjoyed all the books I read in August.

Here are the books I read in August 2021:

  1. Back in the Burbs (Series #1) by Avery Flynn and Tracy Wolff - this one has a hoarding element and I enjoyed following along with the main character as she cleaned things out (can you tell I like organizing?)

  2. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid - TJR is one of my favourite authors. I had been 'saving' this one until I was finally in the mood. It's not my favourite of her books, but it's one of my favourite books this month, and so far this year.

  3. We Are Inevitable by Gayle Forman -(YA) The love story was a little lacking for me, but I loved the small town bookstore storyline… I could've read a whole book just about that.

  4. The Hunting Wives by May Cobb - This one is all over Tik Tok. I got annoyed at the main character for making the worst decisions, but it was a quick read and had an unexpected twist.

  5. Arsenic and Adobo (Series #1) by Mia P. Manansala - If you are a foodie you will love this book! I got hungry just reading the descriptions of food. A nice, light mystery with engaging characters. I definitely want to read the next one in this series.

  6. It Had to Be You be Georgia Clark - The description of this book doesn't do it justice. Another quick read that I found myself reaching for during those 3 am feedings. I had to stop myself from staying up longer to read just a little bit more.

  7. Verity by Colleen Hoover - This is another one that is very popular on Tik Tok right now. I enjoyed it because it was a nice quick read, but I found some of it very disturbing and had a major issue with a key plot point.

Top recommendations: Malibu Rising and It Had to Be You

Least Favourite: The Hunting Wives

I'm currently reading a paper book for the first time in forever. I don't know how easy it will be to read while nursing, but this book keeps popping up everywhere so hopefully, I will get hooked.

Have a great weekend.

Happy reading :)
