Exploring Melbourne - Brighton
I first got the idea for starting this blog shortly after we moved here. I had considered it when we moved to London, thinking it might get me out exploring more. But I never did it. And I was sitting here, applying for jobs, and trying to fill my time. I would keep up with all my favourite bloggers and you tubers and I thought, for fun, why don't I just come up with some blog post ideas and draft up a schedule. And it was fun! My afternoon flew by and I was writing and organizing my photos. And then I thought, I'm just gonna do it. At the very least, I can make a nice phonebook at the end, and Tj and I will have a nice record of our time in Australia.
It took me some time to get it running, and get some website stuff sorted out (which I'm still working on, so bear with me). But some of these posts are catching up from things we did a few weeks ago.
Just 2 days before Christmas we went to Brighton. This suburb of Melbourne has lots of shopping, restaurants and beaches. It only took us 20 minutes by train to get there. The weather was supposed to be really hot that day, but it was kind of all over the place. It was warm and sunny then the clouds came out and it was kind of cold. That's actually the perfect beach weather for me though because I am way to pale to sit in the sun for too long.
We browsed through the shops on Church St. and had another delicious lunch. The food in Melbourne does not disappoint!
Then we walked to Dendy Street Beach to see the iconic colourful bathing huts. They were really pretty. There was even a nice view of the city skyline. The water was absolutely freezing so we just hung out and read for a bit or listened to some podcasts. It is so easy to get around Melbourne, we will be coming back here for more beach days. This is one of the places I would love to show our visitors!
Hope you're having a good week :)
