 Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Happy Tuesday!

For today's post I thought I'd remind you that Mother's Day is less than a month away (Sunday May 13th)! I wanted to put out a reminder and give some gift ideas in case you have to order anything online it has plenty of time to get there. Or if your mom is anything like my mom, she is impossible to buy for, so the more time you have to plan the better!

I think Mother's Day (and Father's Day) and birthdays are a nice time to spoil people. Sure gifts can be practical, but it's fun to spoil people with things they would never get for themselves. My mom's birthday falls around Mother's Day every year, so I have to try even harder.

Here are some practical and not so practical Mother's Day gift ideas:

Lululemon:

I always thought this was overpriced until I owned a few pieces. It's not just workout clothes, they have really nice lifestyle stuff too. Here are my faves:

Align Pant II - these are great to workout in or to wear under a sweater! The comfiest yoga pants you will ever wear!

Vinyasa Scarf Rulu - perfect for traveling! This has saved me so many times. Use it as a shawl or a scarf to keep your neck warm on the plane (I feel like it keeps me from being chilled and getting sick). There's a youtube video showing all the different ways you can wear it!

Bath and Body Products:

Because everyone likes to smell good :)

Room Spray Sleep - Lavender and Vanilla  - smells so good! I spray it on everything, even the dog hahaha and sometimes my brother

Hand Soap Energy - Orange and Ginger - one of my girlfriends always has this and I think of it as her signature hand soap - It's so nice! Tj doesn't get the appeal of nice hand soaps but to me it makes such a difference.

Gingerlily Enriching Hand Lotion - I love this lotion because it is so light and never leaves your hands feeling sticky.

Fiery Pink Pepper Body Polisher - this is the best exfoliator! And such nice packaging too :) You'll have the smoothest skin ever after you use it.

Books:

Of course I have Mother's Day book recommendations. These are ones I haven't read yet but they are getting a lot of buzz and are all on my 'To Read' list.

Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella. She wrote the Shopaholic series. Her books are always fun and funny!

The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine. This was a Reese Witherspoon book club pick and it sounds so creepy! I definitely love a suspenseful book and this one was recommended by a blogger I follow

An American Marriage by Tayari Jones - This is an Oprah's book club pick so everyone is talking about it.

Makeup:

Not everyone wears makeup, but it's nice to have some good stuff on hand for special occasions. Here are some products that I've given or received that have been a big hit!

Too-Faced hangover 3-1 Replenishing Primer and Setting Spray - so refreshing! I use mine as a setting spray but my mom carries hers with her everywhere and sprays it when she wants her skin to look refreshed

TARTE Air Brush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush - my all-time #1 beauty must have. Makes applying foundation so easy, and is great for blending out powder or if you put on too much blush. Beginner friendly!

Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette - Just basic eyeshadow colours that are great for every occasion. If I only had to use one palette for the rest of my life this would be it. They have a Naked Basics palette too, which is very similar but slightly different colours, so choose based on skin tone.

Lancome Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Volume Mascara - I love me a good mascara! Benefit has some great ones that I would also consider must haves, but I always come back to Hypnose.

Fresh Sugar Sweeties Mini Lip Duo - I received this as a gift and I love it. Makes my lips feel soooo soft! The tinted one is great to glam up a natural look

Other ideas:

Favourite things - give your mom a few of your favourite things that are in the 5-10$ price range. My girlfriends and I do this every year at Christmas and I swear they are always some of my favourite presents to open. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, could be your favourite hand lotion or chocolate bar, or candle, but it's always a fun way to introduce people to new products. So far I've introduced my mom to Aloe water and Downy Unstopables and she is hooked on both!

Your time - Turn off your phone and spend some good quality time with your mom. Cook her a meal or bake a new recipe together. Do a puzzle or go get a manicure. Find a craft on Pintrest and make it together. Go for brunch or a walk! I miss my mom and wish I wasn't so far away this year, so if you are close enough to spend time with your mom don't take it for granted! Give her a big hug :)

Give her time - Ok, I don't have children, but sometimes I get really annoyed at taking care of the home or cleaning up after Tj. It's exhausting thinking of something new to cook for dinner every night! I don't know how the mamas out there do it! So I think it's a great idea to take care of your mom for once. Buy the groceries, do the chores. Let her have a bath or a nap while you take care of things. Our moms do a million things to make our lives easier (whether we are grown up or little kids), so I think we can all pick up the slack for at least one day and try to make their lives a bit easier.

I hope this helped get your own ideas flowing! Aside from the leggings, I'd say these gifts work for Grandmother's too.

Don't leave it to the last minute. If you plan right, you can be the favourite child this year! LOL JUST JOKING! If you have any other ideas for me, please share! I've ordered my mom a few things but I'm always looking for new ideas because she really is that hard to buy for!
