Travel Throwback Thursday: Hamburg!

Happy Thursday! 

For today's travel throwback Thursday we are going all the way to.. Hamburg Germany!

We went to Hamburg in April 2016. Tj was there for a work trip and he tacked on an extra couple of days to spend the weekend there. I flew out to meet him and I remember I had a head cold and my ears hurt SO BAD when the flight was descending. One of the most painful things ever! I just kept inhaling my Vicks vapour rub and I had to buy special ear plugs for the way home that are supposed to help your ears.

I knew nothing about Hamburg. According to Wikipedia, it is Germany's second largest city and Europe's second largest shipping port. We were both really impressed during our short time there.

Here are some of my memories of Hamburg:

•  I was traveling on my own and it was super easy to get from the airport to where I needed to meet Tj
• The city was very very clean and pretty. I was shocked to learn that much of the city had been heavily bombed in WWII
• We did a lot of shopping
• This is the first city where we looked at engagement rings together! 
• We went to a really nice rooftop bar and had really expensive cocktails
• At the rooftop bar Tj was a little pouty and started ranting about how engagement rings were so stupid LOL
• We did a lot of walking and I still wasn't feeling that great
• We saw some really nice modern houses and apartments by the water 
• One of Tj's hockey friends was living in Hamburg and we met up with him for a bit. He was the tallest person I've ever seen squish into a smart car LOL. They dropped me back at the hotel and I'm pretty sure I was sitting on the floor of the car 
• The food wasn't very memorable (I just asked Tj and he doesn't remember anything about the food either)
• It was a great little weekend getaway from London!
