Sunset Cruise in Airlie Beach
Happy Monday!
I hope you had a great weekend. It's definitely starting to get a little warmer in Melbourne… come on Spring!
I feel a bit like a broken record, but Jacob has written his blog post and it should go up in the next week or so. We have just been having trouble connecting with the time difference now that he's back home and back at work.
So instead, today I'm going to share some more of our trip highlights. After our day in Sydney, we flew to Airlie Beach, an Australian resort town on Queensland's Whitsunday Coast.
When we got to town it was almost lunchtime. We went straight to see if there were any tours we could sign up for that afternoon. The boys were thinking of going jet skiing, and I really wanted to do a helicopter tour. I almost got one for 50% off because it was the last spot. But then I realised there were only two other people and I didn't want to be the third wheel haha. Instead, we checked in to our Airbnb, had a little swim (or nap) and went on a sunset cruise. We went with Providence V, a 62ft schooner. The tour left from Abell Point Marina. We met at 4:45 pm and returned at 7:00 pm. The cost was $75 per person and included a glass of champagne and some nibbles. They sold drinks as well and we got a bottle of wine for like $30.00.
It was such a fun evening. The other people on the boat were lovely and everyone was very friendly. The sunset was stunning, and we even saw dolphins! I've never seen wild dolphins before and I was very excited to be the first person to spot them. The guide said they've never seen dolphins on a sunset cruise before so I felt very lucky lol.
When the sun went down, the stars came out and it was a beautiful night. We had a yummy dinner and then we had to be up bright and early the next morning for our next adventure.
Flight time from Sydney to Proserpine: About 2.5 hours
Getting from the airport to town: Airport shuttle (36$ return per person). Next time we would rather rent a car to do something different, although the shuttle bus drivers provided great commentary and slowed down to show us the crocodiles.
Where we stayed: an awesome Airbnb with a great view!
Where we ate: Little Vegas Burger & Bar (We highly recommend the Route 66 Burger or the Viva Las Vegan).
Have a great week!
