A Day Trip to Mornington Peninsula
Happy Tuesday!
I hope you are having a good week so far.
This past weekend Tj and I took advantage of the nice weather and rented a car for the day to go on a little day trip to the Mornington Peninsula. We had originally planned to check out a different area of Melbourne for Tj’s birthday, but once we saw the weather was going to be so nice we changed our plans to make the most of the hot day.
The Mornington Peninsula is about an hour’s drive from Melbourne. We drove along the coast so we could check out some other beaches we might want to go to one day and found one that we will definitely go back to (even if there was a shark sighting just the day before we were there!).
Our first stop was brunch! Tj found a great cafe called the Commonfolk Coffee Company. It was such a cool spot. I had a very refreshing iced chai and Tj loved the Vietnamese fusion dishes on the menu.
Next we drove about 5 minutes away to Mount Martha Beach. It was very busy, but I felt like we were in good company because so many people had beach tents and umbrellas. There were also many bright and colourful beach boxes, just like I love to look at on Brighton Beach.
After many hours of swimming and hanging out on the beach (and taking a few naps), Tj and I went for dinner. We walked around a bit checking things out and then enjoyed pizza at D.O.C. Pizza and Mozzarella Bar.
Just as we were walking back to the car we caught a glimpse of the sunset. It was such a perfect way to end a great day.
It was so nice to get out of the city and do something different. We are looking forward to taking more day trips around Victoria this summer!
