Books With Female Spies!

Today I want to share some of my favourite books featuring female spies! This is a sub-genre of historical fiction I had no idea I was into until I realised how many of the books on my favourites list matched this criteria.

In no particular order, here are some books with female spies that I would highly recommend:

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

Two young women from totally different backgrounds are thrown together during World War II: one a working-class girl from Manchester, the other a Scottish aristocrat, one a pilot, the other a wireless operator. Yet whenever their paths cross, they complement each other perfectly and before long become devoted friends. But then a vital mission goes wrong, and one of the friends has to bail out of a faulty plane over France. She is captured by the Gestapo and becomes a prisoner of war. The story begins in "Verity's" own words, as she writes her account for her captors.

Jackdaws by Ken Follett

Honourable mention:

For the young teen in your life, I highly recommend The Gallagher Girl series by Ally Carter. These books are so clever and so much fun to read about young spies in the making! They are not historical fiction, but are a great middle-grade read full of lots of girl power!
