International Women's Day 2021
Happy Monday!
I hope you had a great weekend!
It’s a holiday here in Melbourne for Labour Day and it’s so nice to have an extra day off.
We had a great weekend. We went to the city for brunch on Saturday and spent Sunday hanging out with friends all day after a fun family trivia session. Now today we actually need to get groceries and do some laundry and get ready for the week ahead.
Last week was pretty great too. We received an amazing package from family and friends back home and got a surprise delivery of flowers from some other friends. This is going to be a busy week but my spirits are full and we are feeling the love.
Today is International Women’s Day!
The theme this year is #ChooseToChallenge
In a few months, I am expecting a baby girl, and that has me thinking about International Women’s Day a little bit differently this year. What kind of challenges will she face as a woman in this world? How can we prepare her? How can we give her all the opportunities to find what she loves in life and be successful?
Haha maybe as first-time parents we are just overthinking everything.
But I know one thing for sure - I have been so lucky to have such positive female role models in my life. From my grandmas and my mom to all my aunties - I have learned so much from everyone and really feel blessed to have such strong women in my life.
And now this little girl kicking me right now will have Tj’s sisters and my many many cousins and girlfriends to look up to as well.
Picking up from this year’s theme, I hope I can recognise opportunities in my own life to forge a gender-equal world and to celebrate women’s achievements so that this world will be a better place for all the little girls now and in the future.
And to start, I’m going to continue my tradition of having a kitchen dance party to Beyonce’s Who Runs the World - Girls! song haha.
