Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great Christmas week. Tj and I were on holiday in Bali, Indonesia! We had an awesome time and got back to Melbourne on Saturday, just in time to do some laundry and tidy up before our friends get here for New Year's Eve.

I have a lot of Bali posts coming up over the next few weeks, but today I wanted to talk about our Christmas in Bali.

Considering how much I love the holidays, and how hard I tried to get in the Christmas spirit this year, it still didn't really feel like Christmas. And even though I was so happy to be in Bali, and was staying in a beautiful villa with Tj and our friends Dave and Lauryn, I woke up on Christmas morning and I was a little sad. I missed my family. It was Christmas Eve back in Canada, and my mom was with her family, and my dad was with his family, and I had a major case of FOMO.

And then came the magic Christmas elves!

Unbeknownst to me, Dave had contacted my mom before leaving Canada and made room in his luggage to bring me some gifts from home. So when Dave and Lauryn came out of their room on Christmas morning wearing Christmas t-shirts and bearing gifts, I was so touched! I seriously had to try so hard not to cry haha. It was so unexpected!

My mom sent lots of little goodies for me and Tj, including my favourite Christmas cereal, Captain Crunch! Dave is totally her favourite now. It almost made her cry too when he stopped by the house to pick everything up.

And to top it off, Dave and Lauryn gave us a beautiful painting of Ottawa, our hometown. I can't wait to hang it up :)

After opening our gifts, we spent the day at Potatohead Beach Club. It says beach club, but there were a lot of families there with young kids, so it wasn't that wild. I had such a lovely day just hanging out. It flew by! We snacked and had some drinks and hung out by the swim-up bar. I may have even squeezed in a short nap haha. Later we got a lounger closer to the pool, a prime spot to watch the sunset. It was also a prime spot to see a guy in a speedo do a full model walk alongside the pool while his girlfriend filmed him haha. He did it a few times and it was very entertaining.

We went back to our villa after the sunset and had Chinese takeout for Christmas dinner.

It wasn't a traditional Christmas but I spent the day laughing with Tj and good friends. I am so sincerely touched by Dave and Lauryn's thoughtfulness and generosity and it definitely made my Christmas in Bali extra special!

Have a great week and happy new year!
