Mother's Day Gift Ideas 2020

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a great weekend. Tj and I had a pretty quiet one, which is usual lately. It flew by, especially considering we didn’t do much.

One thing I did do this weekend is to try and get organized for Mother’s Day (and my mom’s birthday). Mother’s Day is coming up soon and with all the restrictions this year, I highly doubt the stores will be open. So it seems like most people will be in the same boat as me where they have to resort to online shopping to get their mamas a gift.

Beware that with all the online shopping everyone is doing, shipping times are taking longer than usual so if you have a gift in mind I suggest you don’t wait if you want it to arrive in time.

Here are some of my top ideas this year:

Beauty

Charlotte Tilbury Mini Lipstick and Liner — This is a very popular shade. I’m recommending the mini set because I think minis are a great way to try new products before deciding if you want to invest in the full-sized version. And who doesn’t love a lip kit?

Nars Afterglow Lip Balm — This is amazing and has the smoothest texture. It’s my favourite lip balm and the shade ‘Orgasm’ is very light with just a hint of colour. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite products. I go through it so quickly when usually I rarely finish a lipstick. This is perfect even for people who don’t wear any makeup.

Lancome Advanced Génifique Hydrogel Melting Mask— I love the Génifique serum, so I imagine the mask must feel very refreshing!

Makeup organizer — This is such a space saver and great to organize beauty products. And since we all have to stay inside right now, organising beauty products is a perfect little project to keep busy.

Sephora Favourites Mini Summer Makeup Essentials Set — There are a lot of greats in this set - it’s good value and a fun way to try new products. The Brazilian Bum Bum Cream was on my mother’s day gift guide last year!

Home

Saje Wellness 101 Relaxation Edition — This kit comes with a diffuser, present moment diffuser blend, and a roll-on stress release oil. You know I love Saje products. You can always add other diffuser blends if you think your mom would prefer a different scent.

Puzzle Mat — My mom has just been devouring puzzles lately. She usually does them together with my Aunt Frances, which is why I thought this puzzle mat would be a great idea. They get very competitive (haha) and this way they can just roll the puzzle up and put it away until they can get together again to work on it and no one has to worry about the other doing it without them.

English Lavender Flower Garden Kit — This is a fun little gift. It’s always satisfying to grow something from seed. And lavender smells so good.

Books

The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren — I’ve liked other light romance books by these authors so this one is on my ‘Books to Read’ list. I’ve been into home reno shows lately, so the premise of this one appeals to me right now.

The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes — I love getting swept away by Jojo Moyes’ storytelling. I have been a fan of this author for a while, but this book was one of Reese Witherspoon’s book club picks.

Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben — Another of my favorite authors. This thriller has a female protagonist and so many good twists! One of my favorites of his for sure.

Big Sky by Kate Atkinson — This is a new release, which doesn’t seem to be available at Chapters yet, but I bought it on sale on Kobo the other day. The good thing about a new release is there is a good chance your mom hasn’t read it yet.

Magnolia Table, Volume 2 by Joanna Gaines — One of my girlfriend’s got this for her birthday and she seems to be enjoying trying the new recipes. There’s no better time to cook up a storm then when you are stuck inside with nothing to do.

Splurge

Last year I suggested the Air Pods, and this year I’m going to have to go with the new Air Pod Pros. Not very creative of me, I know, but I am really impressed with the noise-canceling and transparency modes. tj gave me this not too long ago, and now I can’t live without them. They are great for doing work outside and doing chores (set your mom up with an audiobook or podcast when she’s gardening).

Have a great week :)
