Bali Trip: Seminyak
Happy New Year!
Hello 2019!
Tj and I spent a week in Bali over the Christmas holidays. We started in Seminyak, a beach resort area in the Indonesian province, Bali.
Getting there:
It is about 5.5 hours for a direct flight from Melbourne to Bali. Unfortunately for us, our flight there was delayed by 5 hours! On the way home we were delayed another 3 hours, so our flight left at 2:40 am! Brutal way to end the trip but the flights were fine otherwise.
Leaving the airport was a bit overwhelming. There are lots of people trying to get you to take their taxi. We had researched and thought we knew the right taxi to take, but we still got ripped off. LOL it was the first of a few times we got ripped off by taxis in Seminyak, but by the end we had the hang of it.
Bali lesson #1: Just because it's a blue car and says Blue Bird Group, doesn't mean it's a Blue Bird taxi. Use the app.
We arrived at 3:30 am and checked in at our first hotel. The next morning we had breakfast before moving to our next villa.
Hello paradise.
We went for lunch and spent the rest of the day walking around exploring the town and browsing in the shops. It rained on and off but I didn't mind because it was so hot out it felt nice.
Bali lesson #2: Makeup is not your friend in that kind of heat! I wiped it all off and didn't wear much all week because I just ended up sweating it off anyways lol.
They say a lot of Instagrammers live in Bali and I can see why. So many photo opportunities everywhere. Everything was very colorful and pretty. It didn't really feel like we were in Asia. There is definitely a strong Australian influence - particularly in the food and pricing haha.
We were in Seminyak for a total of four days. We did a lot of walking and exploring and a lot of eating. Overall I was really impressed. I would definitely go back here - there were still so many restaurants we wanted to try! But after a few days it was off to the next city - Ubud!
